Amsterdam, Netherlands Day 86

I have to confess that I had a totally non-day day today. I stayed in until 3:30 doing laundry, finishing some Internet stuff and just relaxing. Another non-picture day. Well, except for these…Have you ever heard of deep fried gravy balls? Well, that’s not what they call them in Amsterdam (they’re called Bitterballen) but it’s a pretty good description of what they are, thanks to Katie. She told me about them, so when we were having a beer and a snack at a local cafe and they were on the menu I was like, SIGN ME UP! You dip them in mustard and oh my they are yummny! These ones had little bits of meat in them, don’t ask me what kind, but it was definitely meat!

Olives just go so well with beer somehow!
I’ve almost reached the halfway point of my trip, and I’m feeling the burn a bit… I’ve realised 6 months really IS a long time to be travelling, at least at the pace that I’m doing it. All I need is a little rest, then I’ll be back in business. Amsterdam is kind of the perfect place for just that.

You deserve a few down days Andrea. You’ve been travelling at warp speed. You’ve probably done more in 3 months than most people do in a lifetime so give yourself a break and let the cousins looks after you. They are so good at that. And thanks to Katie from Andrea’s Mom for being her host and giving her a place to hang her hat.
