Amsterdam to Bomlitz Train Day 89

I had to buy toothpaste the other day, and I think it’s kind of cool to buy a brand that we can’t get at home… adds to the adventure! Except when you open the tube and it’s a pinkish putty colour. Looks gross, but I can handle that. But when it tastes so god awful you can barely finish brushing your teeth with it? No way. Katie did a google translate on it, and it said something about it having a salty clean feeling, or something like that. I like salt, but not when I’m brushing my teeth. Really, I think it’s an herbal toothpaste with minerals. Good in theory, but there’s no way I could use it again, so Colgate it is.
This has been a big part of my life for the past 3 months!
Ah, my first beer at Manfred and Karin’s house. I really need to curb my beer and crunchy nut habit or someone is going to have to roll me home. As it is, I’m going to have some serious (and I mean SERIOUS!) cardio to do when I return. Ah well, I’m having fun, and that’s all that matters! I’m staying with some relatives in Germany right now. They live in a small village called Bomlitz, it’s about an hour from Hannover where they picked me up from the train. Karin greeted me with a rose when I got off the train, so very sweet!
I had mail when I got there. My parents and Aunt Charlotte both sent me birthday cards because they knew I’d be here with Manfred and Karin on the morning of my birthday. I almost peed my pants laughing when I opened this card. I used to be obsessed with the Brady Bunch in my early elementary school days, AND I was in love with Peter Brady. Such a stupid show, but such good memories. Thanks Mom and Dad, that
was a really, really good laugh.
My card from Aunt Charlotte.
My bedside table at Manfred and Karin’s. Sour lemon candies, dark chocolate, mixed nuts and roses… the way to my heart!

I’m so glad yu liked your card – I bought it months ago because when I saw it I knew someone had conceived it just for you. Peter actually grew up to be quite a babe so even when you were small, you had good taste. Have a Happy, Happy Birthday – we’ll have a party when you get back.
    Love Mom
