Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Resort and Spa is “as good as it gets.”

I’ve heard so many great things about the Tigh-Na-Mara Resort and the Parksville area in general over the years, yet somehow I always bypassed it while on my way to… somewhere. Whether I was headed to Tofino, Campbell River, or Cape Scott, Parksville was simply neglected.

I’m here to tell you… this is a destination. This is a justifiably awesome place to come for a vacation, especially if you have kids and/or dogs. The beach is probably one of the best I’ve ever roamed (and I’ve roamed many a beach in my day!) Maybe even better than Long Beach, because the weather is much calmer, and you can SWIM with out freezing your cahoonies off!

The best part is how close it is to Vancouver. yes, you have to take an hour and a half ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, but it’s a beautiful ferry ride so that’s no big deal. The even better part is once you get to Nanaimo you can be rolling into the Tigh-Na-Mara parking lot in less than an hour. Nice, right?

So, down to the nitty gritty. Just what’s so great about this resort? It’s right on the beach and the rooms facing the water have stunning views. There are cabins that you can rent that aren’t beach front but close enough that it doesn’t matter. There are BBQ’s so you can serve up burgers, steaks or veggie dogs. The beach even allows (gasp!) bonfires, so a weenie roast or some  s’mores will definitely be in order once the sun goes down.

My king sized bed was really comfortable and had super soft bedding. I always appreciate that. I also loved the jacuzzi tub that was RIGHT IN THE ROOM! It was very romantic, but alas, I was alone. I DID have a bath anyways though… and read the complimentary newspaper while soaking!

My deluxe suite had a pretty large balcony with two lounge chairs to relax and take in the sunset. That’s when I heard the leaves rustling down below and looked over the edge to see a young deer having a snack.  This really make my stay complete!

Tigh-Na-Mara… I’ll definitely be back for a longer time when I return. I see long days sitting on the beach with my book and a nice cold beer. Yup, that sounds about right.

I’d like to thank Tigh-Na-Mara for hosting me on my weekend getaway! All opinions are my own!

I know! We see deer all the time around B.C. but to have one wander into your back yard is pretty amazing!
