CURIOSITY DIDN’T KILL THIS CAT
My name is Andrea, and I’m an endlessly curious human (no, I’m not actually a cat) who is either on a trip or planning the next one. There is no better way to gather the stories + inspiration I need (yes - NEED) to make my art than getting out of my comfort zone and into the “curiosity” zone.

Why Curious Around the World?
In 2011 I did a crazy thing. I stored all of my worldly possessions, said goodbye to my jewellery design business, ended my 14 year relationship and traveled through Europe for 6-months. Yep, it was a big move but one that was very much needed as I was stagnating at the ripe old age of 39. It wasn’t that I was UNhappy per se, I simply wasn’t HAPPY enough where I was. I yearned to travel. Up to that point I had been so focused on starting a business and then maintaining said business, it was a lot. I did get to travel to New York City three times a year for trade shows but traveling for work simply isn’t the same as traveling for pleasure.
It was the week after my 20-year grad reunion that I made the big decision. I was sitting there looking at all of these friends from my youth gathered and I thought, if I don’t make a change NOW, I’m going to be sitting at my 30-year reunion feeling the exact same way. This required drastic measures and as hard as this was, I have never looked back with regrets. I hated hurting the people I left behind, but I simply had to choose ME for the first time in my life.
started my first Blogspot blog (remember that platform?) when I did that trip called “Living my Life in Reverse” because here I was, pushing 40 and doing a backpacking through Europe trip like a college kid. It started off just being a few words and a few photos, but over the course of a couple of weeks I was doing a nightly post with stories and pics from the day. I was traveling solo, so I had a lot of time in the evenings to reflect on the day and capture my thoughts on paper (er, computer screen ha ha).
When I returned from that trip I converted my Blogspot to a Wordpress and decided on a new name - Curious Around the World. I have an innate curiosity, not just about the world but about people, culture, culinary adventures and of course, art. I haven’t had a blog in oh, about 10 years so I’m happy I decided to hold onto my domain all these years!
Thank you for joining me here in my little spot on the world wide web.
